Dr. Sasha Luccioni is the AI and Climate Lead at Hugging Face, the leading platform for open-source AI models and datasets. She is a leading scientist at the intersection of AI, ethics, and environmental sustainability, with a PhD in AI and over a decade of research experience.
Luccioni's research focuses on measuring and reducing the environmental impact of AI systems — including the carbon emissions, energy consumption, and water usage associated with training and running large AI models. She has developed widely used tools, including CodeCarbon, that allow AI practitioners to measure the carbon footprint of their models.
She was featured on TIME's AI 100 (2024) and BBC's 100 Women (2024), recognizing her as one of the most influential people working at the intersection of AI and climate. She was also named to Business Insider's AI Power List.
