    Dr. Aisha Walcott-Bryant

    Dr. Aisha Walcott-Bryant leads Google Research Africa, where she drives AI research initiatives focused on addressing challenges unique to the African continent. Her research spans healthcare, agriculture, and natural language processing for African languages — ensuring that AI advances benefit communities across Africa.

    Before joining Google, Dr. Walcott-Bryant was a research scientist at IBM Research Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, where she led projects applying AI and data science to healthcare and urban mobility challenges. She holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she specialized in robotics and autonomous systems.

    Her work at Google Research Africa is focused on developing AI solutions that are relevant and beneficial to African communities, including machine learning models for low-resource African languages, AI-powered health diagnostics, and agricultural applications that support smallholder farmers.
