Women in AI
Katrina Lake
Founder & Executive Chair, Stitch Fix
Katrina Lake is the founder and Executive Chairperson of Stitch Fix, the AI-powered personal styling service that pioneered the use of machine learning in fashion retail. She launched the company in 2011 while attending Harvard Business School and took it public in 2017, becoming the youngest woman at the time to lead a company through an IPO on the NASDAQ.
Stitch Fix's business model combines AI algorithms with human stylists to deliver personalized clothing selections to customers. The company's data science team has built recommendation engines that analyze hundreds of data points — from body measurements to style preferences to lifestyle factors — to predict what customers will love.
Before founding Stitch Fix, Lake worked at Polyvore (a fashion e-commerce company), The Parthenon Group (a consulting firm), and Leader Ventures (a venture capital firm). She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Stanford University.
Lake has been named to Forbes' list of America's Self-Made Women and Fortune's 40 Under 40.
