Kanjun Qiu
CEO & Co-Founder, Imbue
Kanjun Qiu is the CEO and co-founder of Imbue (formerly Generally Intelligent), an AI research company focused on building AI systems with robust reasoning and coding capabilities. The company has raised over $200 million in funding from investors including Nvidia and Astera Labs.
Imbue is developing foundation models with improved reasoning capabilities, aimed at creating AI agents that can assist with complex software engineering tasks — from understanding codebases to writing, testing, and debugging code. The company's approach focuses on fundamental research into how AI systems can learn to reason reliably.
Qiu studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT and previously worked at Stripe, Sorbus, and the MIT Media Lab. Her technical background in systems engineering and AI research informs Imbue's approach to building more capable and trustworthy AI systems.
Her work addresses one of the central challenges in AI: moving beyond pattern matching to genuine reasoning and problem-solving.
