Women in AI
Anna Patterson
Founder, Ceramic AI
Anna Patterson is the founder of Ceramic AI, a company focused on redefining AI training. She is the former VP of Engineering at Google (AI) and the founding Managing Partner of Gradient Ventures, Google's AI-focused venture capital fund. Ceramic raised $12 million to build new approaches to AI training methodology.
At Google, Patterson led engineering teams working on search and AI, contributing to core technologies that power Google's products. She then founded Gradient Ventures, where she invested in and supported dozens of early-stage AI companies, helping them scale from research labs to commercial products.
Patterson's career spans nearly three decades in technology, including early work on large-scale information retrieval systems. Her deep experience across AI research, product development, and venture capital gives her a comprehensive understanding of the AI ecosystem — from foundational research to commercial deployment.
With Ceramic, she is now applying that expertise to one of the most fundamental challenges in AI: how to train models more effectively and efficiently.
